What Culture War?

In an article from the BBC we have a conservative minister stating that, "The culture wars are exaggerated. It's not nearly as divided in America as it was during Vietnam or the civil rights era."

The way the mentalgodzilla sees it, if we are comparing the current state of the union to the vietnam and civil rights eras, something has gone drastically wrong.

My Head is Sore From Slamming it into Walls

So, welcome to the United States, a land of fag-hatin', gun-totin', dip-spittin', jesus-freaks.

Time to seriously consider getting "I Did Not Vote Bush" tattooed over my heart.

In other news, here are some special thank yous the mental godzilla told me to send out:

Thank you Michael Moore, without your massively profitable "documentary" there is no way every fucking churchgoer east of Pennsylvania would have voted.

Thank you to the main stream media, for making issues out of non-issues and basically dumbing down America as hard as you possibly could.

and finally,

a huge thank you to all 80% of my generation who got too stoned to make it to a voting booth. way to balance out that church vote, guys. I mean, why vote when apathy and bong-rips beckon.

See ya all in China, at least there the authoritarian regime is honest about its intentions.

Will the POTUS please eat a dick

Got to love this charge from W,

"He considers the war on terror primarily an intelligence-gathering and law enforcement operation," Mr. Bush said of his rival, as several thousand booed the notion. "You cannot win a war if you are not convinced that you are even in one."

Yeah, you're convinced that we are in a war, butyou war means we do not have to sacrafice anything but our sense of security. We do not have to ration anything, think about the dead and wounded American soldiers, cut back on oil sonsumption. In fact we should consume more. the only thing this war requires we renounce is our sense of security, all we need do is live in fear and let W protect us from the evil doers. Accept him as our salvation and we will be safe, right?

fuck this shit, fuck it right in the ear.

Once again: democracy requires dissent

From the New Republic, Beinart does it again. I know its subscription, but TNR online is well worth the dolla bills.

July 4, Jeff and Nicole Rank went to hear George W. Bush speak in Charleston, West Virginia. Tickets in hand, they found seats ten or 15 rows from the stage. There they sat, quietly, wearing t-shirts that read love america, hate bush and regime change starts at home. Forty-five minutes before the president took the podium, event staffers approached the couple and said, "You need to either take those shirts off or leave." According to The San Antonio Express-News, Jeff Rank replied, "People around us have Bush-Cheney t-shirts, pro-Bush t-shirts. Why can't we express our views?" The staffers left, but a few minutes later, two police officers arrived and told the couple to "cover up, take them [the t-shirts] off or leave completely." The Ranks refused, at which point they were handcuffed, expelled from the event, and briefly thrown in prison. With the Ranks safely off the premises, Bush addressed the crowd, declaring that "on the Fourth of July, we confirm our love of freedom, the freedom for people to speak their minds, the freedom for people to worship as they so choose. Free thought and free expression, that's what we believe." Two days later, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Nicole Rank's employer, told her that, as a result of the incident, she was being dismissed from her assignment in West Virginia.

Welcome to Bush's reelection bid.

Hugh Hewitt doesn't understand blogging

What I love about blogs are that they are NOT the mainstream media. They, that is the good ones, cover news that generally out of the main spin and are thusly a nice way to keep persepctive on the media.

Blogs (again I mean the quality ones) are also not part of campaigns. Granted they have bias, but they do not generally parrot the talking points of a candidates campaign.

This is why Hugh Hewitt fails as a blogger. I won't link to his site, because it sucks too much, but he does nothing but barf the BC04 spin. It adds nothing to the political process other than being just another outlet for BC04.

He championed the Swift Boat Verterns for Mung and is now all in a huff and puff about Mary Cheney.

I realize that this post also does nothing to further the political process and is just teenage piss and vinegar, but fuckass! I need to vent.

Oil for food...or profits?

More good news coming out of I-rak today. After the administration wildly accused the world of staying out of "The Coalition of the Willing" because they were cashing in on the UN's Oil for Food program, it turns out that our own multinational oil companies were using similar practices. Check out the NYTimes for more info, I can't seem to make links work. damn you computer.
